Car Tunes

I'm a musicphile, but you won't find me walking around listening to music on a pair of earbuds. I like to feel like I am a part of the world around me; soaking in the mundane and peculiar sounds around me.

But when I am in the car, this is a different story.

The bass thumps underneath a searing electric guitar melody that buzzes through my one busted car speaker. The Black Keys roll through the air and out through the open windows to the world outside. One hand lies on the steering wheel while the other hangs by the window. My fingers can't help but tap along to the intoxicating rhythm. Other times the sounds might change to be the acoustic guitar of John Mayer, or the banjo of early Mumford and Sons, or occasionally a catchy Spanish melody or a favorite by the Jonas brothers will buzz through my car. But either way, the effect is the same. My own concert in the midst of Atlanta traffic, all contained within my little Mini-Cooper.
